Still learnin
We had a couple of nice days last week. It was warm enough for me to wanna go out and enjoy some fun little waves. It's important to me to get out and surf when the conditions are right. I'm enjoying riding shorter boards and learned another lesson. Less is more. It's a lot more fun to take out a shorter board most of the time. Less board to manage, easier to turn and easier for the peaky drops we have here.
Thanks to my girlfriend Julie for the pictures.

Legendary Bob Simmons
This is an amazing story. WHat a character. Lots of respect for his designs and skills.

prepped for glass
I've been sanding and shaping. The bottom has a central tunnel and the top has it's spoon. I'm happy with the way the boards turning out. The leash plug is in. I will do a little more sanding and then laminate.

Shaping the mini
I started rough shaping. Today, I just wanted to blend the top and shape the rails. I haven't started on the bottom yet. The board feels nice and light.

Deck almost done
I just have a few pieces to add. I'm happy about how the nose turned out. It makes sense to spoon and keep it thin. When I felt the board today it seemed a tad heavy. It should lose some weight when I shape it. The leash and vent blocking are done.

Redoing the ribs.
After seeing several mini's with spooned out noses, I thought, that's a good idea. I tore out the old ribs and put in some new ones. I also added a rib in the tail section.

decking
I've been adding bracing and blocking to the nose and tail sections. Next time, I'll add a few more ribs.
